Great Wolf Resorts — Digital Architect
Challenge: Great Wolf Resorts ran nine critical bookkeeping processes by hand every night at each property, tying up IT staff and creating inconsistent, error-prone handoffs across the portfolio.
Approach: As Digital Architect, I designed a night-audit automation solution and led a team of two developers and four IT specialists through prototyping and rollout, built on Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, Microsoft Teams and SharePoint. I also led design of the group sales team's Birthday Party Booking Engine, running story-pointed grooming sessions and mocking web service endpoints so front-end and backend developers could build in parallel.
Impact:
Azure Functions Azure Logic Apps Microsoft Teams SharePoint REST APIs
Guidehouse — Associate Director of Software Engineering
Challenge: A mortgage-industry asset-monitoring platform needed bank-grade SSO for its banking customers, and the department needed a repeatable way to plan, staff and fund delivery as it grew.
Approach: I owned departmental delivery planning – roadmaps, cost models and resource forecasts presented to executive stakeholders – while leading a bi-weekly Agile delivery team of 4 engineers and 1 QA resource. I implemented SSO authentication for banking customers using SAML and Ping Identity, and grew the team by interviewing and hiring frontend, backend C#, and QA engineers.
Impact:
SAML Ping Identity C# Agile
Navigant Consulting (now Guidehouse) — Solutions Architect / Managing Consultant
Challenge: Denied healthcare claims required slow manual review, and legal teams needed a faster, more consistent way to review large volumes of email and SMS evidence.
Approach: I architected high-volume transaction processing into a healthcare billing database using SQL stored procedures and C# batch services, then led design and delivery of an automated denied-claims response solution built on a Random Forest algorithm. I also incubated and architected Navigant Predict, a machine learning-enabled evidence review platform, translating data science models into an intuitive, lawyer-friendly application built with Telerik and deployed to the kCura/Relativity platform.
Impact:
Random Forest / ML SQL C# Telerik kCura/Relativity
US Foods — Principal Technical Architect, Kin + Carta
Challenge: US Foods' ecommerce backend needed faster, more reliable web services to support its architecture team's modernization roadmap.
Approach: As Principal Technical Architect at Kin + Carta, I assisted the software architecture team with backend web services, DevOps and database query optimization, and improved REST web service performance using Spring Boot, Kafka and the Nest.JS web service framework.
Impact:
Spring Boot Kafka Nest.JS REST
Lippert Components — Principal Technical Architect, Kin + Carta
Challenge: Lippert Components needed a new tech support platform, from requirements through a repeatable delivery pipeline.
Approach: I gathered requirements from key stakeholders, submitted the design and architecture plans, and established DevOps for the Agile board, source control and CI/CD-enabled deployments.
Impact:
DevOps CI/CD Agile
Trimble, Inc. — Principal Technical Architect, Kin + Carta
Challenge: Trimble.com, its product sites and its internal career site needed a modern, unified search experience and refreshed UX.
Approach: I led the Algolia Search implementation across Trimble.com, product websites and the internal career website, and worked with customer, creative and UX teams to refine Miro wireframes and optimize the user experience.
Impact:
Algolia Search UX Collaboration
Rewards Network — Systems Engineer / Lead Java Developer
Challenge: Rewards Network needed to connect its restaurant dining rewards program to major partner loyalty programs and modernize how its marketing team shipped creative.
Approach: As technical lead, I served as the lead developer for the Shell Fuel Rewards and United Airlines API integrations, and built a custom C# automation application for banner ad preparation. I also co-led onshore/offshore delivery of 11 mobile-optimized websites.
Impact:
REST APIs C# Partner Integrations
Nielsen Media Research — Web Application Programmer
Challenge: Nielsen's TV Ratings division relied on legacy FORTRAN systems that limited maintainability and long-term scalability.
Approach: I redesigned and rewrote the core processing logic in Java, modernizing the legacy FORTRAN-based TV ratings pipeline.
Impact:
Java Legacy Modernization
